     The generous gifts of Paul A. Falcigno (1930-2013) have provided inspiration and material for four exhibitions of Japanese Prints from 2013 to 2014 thus far.

Paul A. Falcigno (1930 - 2013): Friend and Art Collector

PAul A. Falcigno (1930-2013)

     "Paul Anthony Falcigno, age 82, of Hamden, husband of Judith Falcigno, passed away on September 1, 2013 at St. Raphael Hospital. Paul was born in New Haven on November 21, 1930, son of the late Pasquale & Teresa DelPreto Falcigno. Besides his wife, he is survived by nieces & nephews, Agatha (Bill) Evans, Teresa (Ralph) Zichichi, Joe (Fran) Zichichi, Mary (John) Angus, Ann (Luigi) Ferraro, Pat (Helene) Zichichi. Rose DeRosa, Grace (Richard) Marriott, Agnes (Don) Cornwall, Sal (Noreen) Zichichi, Nancy Zichichi & Peter (Kim) Zichichi; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Mansfield of Waterbury & Barbara Pascarella of Myrtle Beach, SC; 2 step-grandchildren and several grand nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his sister Agnes Zichichi & her husband Salvatore Zichichi. Paul graduated from Hillhouse High School, Quinnipiac College and Wharton School of Finance. He was a US Army Veteran and a former Alderman for the City of New Haven. Paul was a Professor Emeritus of Marketing and International Business at Quinnipiac University. He also had the honor of creating and being the first Director of the Quinnipiac Polling Institute. An expert in the art of Bonsai, he was the first President of the New Haven Bonsai Society and mentor to the Beijing, China, Bonsai Society. He was a longtime member & Past President of the Hamden Rotary Club and a Past District Governor of Rotary District 7980." 

     In 2010, Paul Falcigno gifted over 300 Japanese Prints to the Worcester Art Museum. Included were 94  Woodblock Prints by the artist Yoshida Toshi (1911-1995), giving the Worcester Art Museum the dinstiction of having one of the largest collections in the United States of Toshi's naturalistic works. Mr. Falcigno's generous gift provided the focus of three WAM exhibitions in 2013.
